  • Update for Changes in temporary visa applications from Immigration New Zealand(INZ) (31st October, 2011)
This update is for the upcoming changes to Immigration New Zealand's (INZ) approach to decision-making processes for temporary entry visa applications made in offshore branches.

INZ is streamlining the decision-making process for offshore temporary entry visa applications by changing its practice of seeking comment from applicants in circumstances where an application is likely to result in a decline decision. Instead it will generally only seek further comment when instances of Potentially Prejudicial Information (PPI) arise. As a consequence of this change, INZ practice will be more closely aligned to section 58 of the Immigration Act 2009 in enabling immigration officers to determine applications on the basis of the information, evidence and submissions provided. Importantly, appropriate principles of fairness and natural justice are preserved in INZ's decision-making.

The changes will come into effect on 21 November 2011.
